Estudos críticos sobre a relação psicoterapêutica na terceira força da Psicologia

A terceira força da Psicologia se constituiu dando um lugar central para a relação psicoterapêutica no processo psicoterápico. Investigamos o que três de seus autores mais influentes —Carl Rogers, Rollo May e Irvin Yalom—escreveram a esse respeito, a fim de compreender suas concepções de relação terapêutica. Cientes da parca produção científica no Brasil sobre o tema, julgamos fundamental elaborar aportes teóricos para uma análise critica dos estudos desses autores. Para tal, a metodologia de pesquisa foi a revisão bibliográfica de textos clássicos produzidos por eles como literatura primária. Ademais, em uma literatura secundária, fizemos uma revisão narrativa das produções mais recentes da literatura sobre o tema, entre 2018 até 2021, nas bases SciELO, Google Scholar e PePSIC, com os seguintes descritores: Rogers e relação terapêutica; May e relação terapêutica; Yalom e relação terapêutica; Rogers y relación terapéutica; May y relación terapêutica; Yalom y relación terapéutica; Rogers and and therapeutic relationship; Rollo May and therapeutic relationship; Yalom and therapeutic relationship. Com a revisão, alcançamos a seguinte conclusão: a tentativa dos autores da terceira força em elaborar prescrições sobre a relação terapêutica acaba por se mostrar insuficiente, pois é justamente na tentativa de separá-la do todo, que se desconsidera o «entre» da relação.

Critical Studies on the Psychotherapeutic Relationship in the Third Force in Psychology
The third force of Psychology constituted itself conferring a central place for the psychotherapeutic relationship in the psychotherapeutic process. We investigated what three of its most influential authors — Carl Rogers, Rollo May and Irvin Yalom— wrote about it in order to understand their conceptions of therapeutic relationship. Due to the meagre scientific production on the subject in Brazil, it is essential to elaborate theoretical contributions for a critical analysis of these authors’ studies. To this end, the research methodology was the bibliographic review of classical texts produced by them as primary literature. Moreover, in a secondary literature, we made a narrative review of the most recent productions of the literature on the subject – between 2018 and 2021, in the SciELO, Google Scholar and PePSIC databases, with the following descriptors: Rogers and The Therapeutic Relationship; May and The Therapeutic Relationship; Yalom and The Therapeutic Relationship. The review brought the following conclusion: the attempt of the third force authors to elaborate prescriptions on the therapeutic relationship ends up being insufficient, because it is precisely in the attempt to separate it from the whole that the "between" of the relationship is unconsidered.
